The home page picture-my children.
I personally have had 9 children of my own. (My oldest child is not pictured here.)
My first birth was a 36 hour labor with lots of narcotics like Demerol and Statol, an episiotomy which caused a 4th degree tear and 127 stitches.
The second was a 26 hour labor. I had an epidural and pitocin and ended up pushing for a total of 8 hours due to a cervical lip. This ended in a c-section followed by reconstructive surgery.
My 3rd child was 24 hours of labor and during crowning, he decided to pull out of the birth canal and go transverse...This baby was elected epidural with added pitocin which ended up in another c-section.
Thankfully babies 4, 5, 6 and 7 were v-bacs and less labor time with epidural and pitocin.
Well, by this time, many laws had changed in the state of CA - where I would deliver my 8th child after my waters broke at 35 weeks gestation. I was forced to have a c-section because I had previous c-sections. I felt this was Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! I was not aware of my rights as a patient and when the staff told me I could have my baby in the parking lot or have a c-section I consented to a c-section due to the possibilities of the baby being in danger.
The Dr. doing the surgery had made the statement, "This woman has an incredible uterus, she would have delivered this baby just fine." I will never forget those words. Our bodies were made to deliver a baby and babies were made to be born. Amazing!
Well, because of this birth, my husband asked me to fulfill my lifelong dream and become a midwife, so that is what I did. We had our 9th baby at home. I labored in the water, no one telling me to push, breath, or anything else. I listened to my body and my baby. It was so pleasant to pray in silence, greet my children when they got up and after they had breakfast, introduce their baby sister to them. We chose an unassisted birth because of all the research we did together and I had the best delivery I could have ever dreamed.
Now I help women take this journey through being a doula and midwife birth as naturally as possible (although, that epidural is great if there is no other option). My goal is to show women their bodies can do this.
May God bless you with your birth experience, that it will be a good one.
